This guide helps you choose the best technical settings for your Mac's hardware. Correct buffer and sample rate settings prevent audio glitches and minimize delay when you are recording.
Follow these steps
Locate Buffer Settings
Go to Logic Pro > Settings > Audio. Locate the 'I/O Buffer Size' setting under the Devices tab.
Select Recording Buffer Size
Set the buffer to 128 or 256 for recording. Lower numbers reduce 'latency' (delay) but put more strain on your CPU.
Select Mixing Buffer Size
Set the buffer to 512 or 1024 for mixing. Larger numbers give your computer more time to process plugins and prevents crashing.
Set the Sample Rate
Check 'Project Settings' > 'Audio' for the Sample Rate. For beginners, 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz is standard and offers the best balance of quality and file size.
