How to Use Mastering Assistant in Logic Pro

Learn how to use the AI-powered Mastering Assistant in Logic Pro to instantly polish your mix with professional EQ, dynamics, and loudness.

This guide helps you apply professional-grade processing to your final mix using Logic's built-in AI tools. Mastering Assistant analyzes your audio to automatically adjust frequency balance and loudness.

Follow these steps

  1. Enable the Assistant

Open the Mixer (press X) and locate the Stereo Out channel strip on the far right. Look for the 'Mastering' button at the top of the effects slot area and click it.

  2. Analyze the Mix

The plugin will automatically begin analyzing your project from the start of the timeline. Let the playback finish the analysis phase so it can accurately calculate the EQ and dynamics needs.

  3. Adjust Intensity and Character

Once the analysis is complete, listen to your track and toggle the 'Bypass' button. You can adjust the 'Intensity' slider to increase or decrease the overall impact of the processing.

  4. Fine-tune the Output

Ensure the 'Loudness' setting is appropriate for your target platform. Use the 'Excite' slider if you want to add more harmonic saturation to the high-end frequencies.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the Mastering Assistant on while still mixing individual tracks.
  • Using the assistant on a mix that is already clipping into the red.
