How to Use the Cycle Region in Logic Pro

The Cycle Region is an essential tool for focusing your work on a specific part of a song. This tutorial teaches you how to loop sections for continuous playback and efficient editing.
Follow these steps
Locate the Ruler
Locate the ruler at the top of the Tracks area, just above the timeline numbers.
Draw the Cycle area
Click and drag your mouse across the top half of the ruler to create a yellow bar.
Fine-tune the loop length
Adjust the start and end points by dragging the left or right edges of the yellow bar to line up with the grid.
Reposition the Cycle region
Click the center of the yellow bar and drag it to move the entire loop to a different part of the song.
Toggle Cycle mode
Click the 'Cycle' icon in the Control Bar (the looping arrow) to enable or disable the loop.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the Cycle mode on while trying to record a long take, causing the recording to loop back and overwrite.
- Setting the cycle area slightly off the grid, resulting in a 'hiccup' every time the playhead loops.
